How Long Does Breast Milk Last after Pumping? July 15, 2015 17:37
Most health experts agree that breast milk provides babies with the best nutrition, especially during the first 6 months. Breast pumps allow more members of the family to take part in feeding your new baby and also give you the chance to get out of the house for longer periods of time. Once you have the hang of it, you can set aside milk for the next several days, weeks, or even months.
How to Store Breast Milk
Store breast milk in a clean glass container or a plastic bag or container designed for breast milk storage. Always label each container with the date so you know how old it is. Room temperature milk should be used or stored within 4-6 hours. In the refrigerator, milk lasts for up to 5 days. In the freezer, milk can stay good for several weeks. In particularly cold freezers, milk can be stored as long as 6 months to a year.
